End of the Year Health Canvas Team Breakfast.

Health Canvas End-of-Year Breakfast – A Beautiful way to celebrate the year.

On the 1st of December our team gathered for a warm and joyful end-of-year breakfast at Levanter Café, and it was exactly what we all needed after a wonderfully busy year of growth at Health Canvas.

The spread was absolutely delicious, a generous selection of traditional Syrian dishes, lovingly prepared with the flavours and textures that so many of us appreciate. Given our shared passion for cooking, the team couldn’t help but admire (and enjoy!) every plate. It was a real feast and a reminder of how food brings people together.

Health Canvas staff end-of-the-year Celebration

Although we were missing a few of our team, Dani travelling abroad, and Katya and Yael busy working, they were certainly in our thoughts.

What made the morning truly special was simply having the time to sit together, connect, laugh, and reflect on the year we’ve had. The dedication, growth, and support within our team continue to shape Health Canvas into the warm and collaborative space it is.

It was a truly lovely way to celebrate all we’ve achieved and to look forward to the exciting year ahead.

Here’s to our incredible team, thank you for everything you bring to Health Canvas!

Miles with Meaning (from Genia)

Genia finishes Neuroblastoma Charity Run

A couple of weeks ago, I had the privilege of participating in the Neuroblastoma Charity Run, an event dedicated to raising awareness for childhood brain cancer. It was a meaningful way for me to combine my love of fitness with a cause that truly matters. With the generous support of our community, I was able to raise over $300, thank you so much to everyone who donated! Your kindness helps fund vital research and brings hope to children and families affected by neuroblastoma.

2026 Update: Continuing to Provide the Care You Deserve

As we approach the new year, we wanted to share an update regarding our service fees at Health Canvas.

From January 15th 2026, there will be a price adjustment to bring our fees in line with the general physiotherapy rates across Melbourne.

This decision has been made with great care and consideration. It is important that we continue to offer the highest quality, evidence-based care, while also keeping our services as accessible and affordable as possible for our community. Maintaining this balance is something we take seriously, and we review it thoughtfully each year.

We are deeply grateful for the trust you place in us and remain committed to providing the supportive, personalised, and compassionate care that Health Canvas is known for. Thank you for being part of our community, we look forward to supporting your health and wellbeing in the year ahead.

Health Canvas Kitchen

Oliebollen - Dutch Doughnuts

A recipe from Genia (based on recipe from allrecipes.com)

When I lived in Holland, Oliebollen were the treat I looked forward to all year. For just a few weeks between Christmas and New Year, they were sold in small kiosks and the tradition is to enjoy them on New Year’s Eve with a glass of champagne. Although it’s summer here in Australia (though lately the weather has felt a little chillier), this delicious dessert has become a big hit in our household.

Ingredients:

Oliebollen are traditional Dutch end of the year dessert

7 grams of active dry yeast

1 cup lukewarm milk

1 table spoon of sugar

2 ¼ cups all-purpose flour

a pinch of salt

1 large egg

¾ cup dried currants or raisins

1 medium Granny Smith apple - peeled, cored and finely chopped

400 ml vegetable oil for deep-frying

1 cup icing sugar for dusting

Instructions:

  1. Mix dry yeast with 1tbs of sugar and lukewarm milk. Let stand for a few minutes to dissolve and to start bubbling.

  2. Sift flour and salt into a large bowl. Stir in yeast mixture and egg until smooth. Fold in currants, raisins, and apple.

  3. Cover the bowl and set in a warm place to rise until doubled in volume, about 1 hour.

  4. Use a large metal spoon (dip it into the oil before scooping the dough and dropping the ball carefully into the hot oil). Fry until golden brown, about 8 minutes.

  5. Remove doughnuts with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.

  6. Dust warm doughnuts with icing sugar, transfer to a serving platter, and sprinkle with more sugar just before serving. Enjoy!

Holiday Clinic Hours

Our practitioners are taking a well-deserved rest over the Christmas and New Year period, and the clinic will be closed from 25/12/25 to 4/12/25. We will return to our regular hours on 5/01/26. For any urgent physiotherapy matters during this time, please email or call reception, we will be periodically checking voicemail throughout the break. Thank you for your understanding, and we wish you a safe and restful holiday season.

Our Message to You.

Best wishes from Health Canvas Clinic to our community

As we are in the midst of the festive season, we would like to extend our heartfelt wishes to our Health Canvas community. This year has been especially difficult for many, and our hearts are heavy following the tragic event that occurred during the Chanukah celebration in Bondi, Sydney. We stand in solidarity with all those affected and hold space for the sadness felt across our wider community.

We wish everyone health, peace, and comfort, and hope this season brings moments of togetherness, healing, and connection with family and loved ones. May the year ahead be one of unity, kindness, and renewed hope.

Stay tuned for more updates, inspiration, and goodness from the heart of Health Canvas!
